Wow, I totally agree. It's incredibly frustrating that you can't tell how green your hotel is, because none of the hotels or certification agencies have gotten their act together to define environmental sustainability for this industry. And it's interesting to see the big boys like Marriott and Hilton struggle with these very issues.

LEED certification is a great way to distinguish a handful of hotels, except that it favors new construction, since (as far as I can tell) it would usually be terribly expensive to retrofit an old building so that it's LEED certified.
